This is a list of general commission information, along with a few price quote examples, because although each case is different, it’ll give a general idea about how much one can expect a commission to cost.
This is not a legal document as such, but it is my terms and information for private commissioned work and would stand as a verbal agreement between us. In general you’d agree to the following unless otherwise specified in correspondence.
Personal Commission Information
1. Information: Please provide as much information as possible to clearly indicate the image you would like. Character references, setting, similar images, backstory, etc. or any other preferences that you feel are important. For anything else I’ll be using my artistic license.
2. Process: Most images I will paint in the styles you see in my galleries. Please specify if you prefer a certain visual style. As I work on the piece I will provide to you work-in-progress images so that you may provide feedback. I will try and complete the image in a reasonable amount of time. Keep in mind that I have other obligations and ongoing work so that I may not be able to complete it in short order though, especially if it is a complicated piece. Please state a deadline if it must be done by a certain time.
3. Mediums: I generally work in the digital mediums, it’s pretty flexible with what can be done. I do work in pencil for sketching, sometimes, but I haven’t offered those as commissions. If that’s something you’re interested in however, I’ll keep an open mind about it. Otherwise I offer the usual range of artwork in digital mediums, like photo manipulation, render based images, portraits, quick sketches, anime, sometimes logos, and of course your regular all-encompassing digital painting. What’s in my gallery is what I usually do but if you want something else please feel free to ask.
4. Payment: Payment will be made through Paypal with the following terms: 50% of our agreed-upon payment up-front (once I’ve begun working on an image) and the remaining 50% after I’ve completed it to your satisfaction. If you cannot use Paypal another method can be worked out, the same conditions apply however.
5. Delivery: Once completed the image will be delivered to you as a hi-resolution image file, suitable for personal printing or other non-commercial use. If you would like prints of the commission I will provide them at small extra fee, through a high-quality print service. You will have to provide an appropriate address to ship to.
6. Rights: All publishing rights are reserved by myself unless otherwise specified. In the case the artwork is of personal characters you have created, this does not mean I own your character or ideas, it merely means that I reserve the right to use the final image on personal or public website(s), my portfolio, in print or other types of self-promotion. If you require complete usage, publishing and printing rights please mention this to me, as it will affect the price.
General Price Quotes and Examples
I generally prefer to not give out quotes before I’ve read the information a client sends, but many have asked and I feel it’s fair to give a general range so that neither of us are wasting our time.
Keep in mind that these prices may go up or down depending on what style you want, or if you’re wanting a photomanipulation, etc.
1. Full character illustrations with a complete background, one main figure, run from 300-400 USD. Extra figures and major features would run from 50-150 USD extra depending on what it’s all about. Price for images with no background, less details, etc. obviously will be potentially much less.
2. Portrait/Bust paintings with a simple background run from 175-275 USD, with the price increasing depending on complexity and how much of a role the background may play in the image.
3. Misc. Work For things such as photo-manipulations, mixed-media, and render editing, in general because the work is usually less time-consuming the price would be a fair amount less.
Anything else, please inquire and I’ll evaluate the price for you.
If you agree to the terms set out here, I look forward to working with you. If you have any questions or need to discuss alternate situations please email me using this form, or via private messages on one of the gallery sites in the Links section. Thank you.
